An integrated understanding of biological systems and their environments is increasingly important to society. The mission of the Department of Biology at UA Little Rock is to create and disseminate knowledge through research and education.
Graduate and undergraduate programs within the department advance knowledge, foster critical thinking and inquiry, and demonstrate the importance and relevance of biology to society. The research products generated by faculty, graduate and undergraduate students lead to both an improved understanding of biological systems and to solutions of complex problems.
The education and research activities of the department are mutually reinforced through interactions with academic partners, professional organizations, and government agencies.
