Chancellor’s Leadership Group Annual Retreat

Chancellor Anderson hosted the annual Chancellor’s Leadership Group retreat August 4 and 5, at the Embassy Suites in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This year’s retreat focused on efforts to revise the UALR Fast Forward strategic plan. In addition to the members of the Chancellor’s Leadership Group, a number of faculty members were invited this year to participate in this important strategic plan process.

On Thursday, Dr. Jim Purcell, Director of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, gave a presentation on the dire need to increase the number of college graduates in the state of Arkansas. Dr. Purcell provided information on the Complete College American Initiative, a national initiative in which Arkansas hopes to participate. The Initiative’s goal is to double the number of college graduates by 2020.

The CLG consists of 34 campus leaders, including vice chancellors, the president of the Faculty Senate, and presidents of the student organizations – Student Government Association, Graduate Student Association, and the Student Bar Association. The group meets twice per month to receive timely information about campus-wide issues and provide insight on important university matters.
