Aerial Scissor Lift

Standards 29 CFR 1910.67 and 1926.453 of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) covers the operation of vehicle-mounted elevating and rotating work platforms and aerial lifts. In summary, these standards spell out specific requirements as to the construction, modification, and safe use of the equipment and training of operators.

Asbestos Awareness

Asbestos awareness training discusses OSHA’s Asbestos Standard (29 CFR 1910.1001), types and properties of asbestos, health effects related to asbestos exposure, preventing exposure to asbestos, methods for controlling asbestos fiber release, and asbestos abatement basics.

Back Safety

Back Safety is a 15 minute presentation which discusses one of the most common workplace injuries, what you can do to help prevent back injuries, how to use proper lifting, load carrying, unloading techniques, and safe practices. This training class is mandatory for all employees with job tasks involving excessive lifting or lifting 50 pounds or more to ensure that all lifting tasks are done following proper lifting techniques.

Backhoe/Loader Operations

The Tractor Operator training module is designed for personnel who will be using tractors on campus for any purpose. Objectives included in this training include understanding the purpose of a tractor, the characteristics of a tractor, recognizing hazard groups, tractor stability, identifying controls/instrumentation, and safe use of a tractor.

Bloodborne Pathogens

Bloodborne pathogens training discusses OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030), bloodborne diseases, exposure determination, methods of compliance, personal protective equipment, Hepatitis B Vaccine, post-exposure evaluation and follow-up, labels, and signs.

Confined Space

Confined spaces training discusses OSHA’s Confined Space Standard (29 CFR 1910.146), evaluation of a confined space, signage requirements, confined space hazards, entry requirements and procedures, job tasks, emergency situations and responses, and training requirements.

Electrical Safety (General)

Electrical Safety – General training is a 30 minute presentation that discusses electrical hazards, electrical injuries, arc flash and arc blast, emergency response, first aid for electrical shock, using an AED, power lines, use of electrical equipment, circuit protective devices, lockout/Tagout procedures, and safe work practices.

Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E)

This course provides information and training required of employees and employers working on live electrical circuits. The topics covered include: ARC-flash hazards, Personal Protective Equipment, Approach Boundaries, Energized Work Permits, and other required knowledge.

Fire Safety & Evacuation

Fire safety and evacuation training discusses the fire response plan RACER, ways to report the presence of a fire, methods of evacuation, procedures for employees with disabilities, types of extinguishers, classes of fires, and the steps of the PASS procedure for the operation of fire extinguishers.

Forklift Safety

Forklift/power lift operation and safety training discusses OSHA’s Powered Industrial Trucks standard (29 CFR 1910.178), different types of forklifts and power lifts including propane, gas and electric powered, as well as electric powered pallet lifts. At the end of this training, you will be able to perform an operation safety inspection, recognize any deficiencies which could create an unsafe condition in the operation of a forklift or power lift, identify hazards in your workplace, and operate and perform the duties of a forklift operator in a safe manner.

Hand & Power Tool Safety

This training provides an introduction to hand and power tool safety. Topics include potential hazards, injury prevention, proper tool selection, transportation and maintenance, and appropriate PPE.

Hazard Communication

Hazard Communication is a 30 minute presentation that discusses where you encounter hazardous chemicals, why prevention is important, the hazard communication standard, Globally Harmonizing Systems (GHS), employee responsibilities, forms of hazards, detection and monitoring, hazards at your facility, how chemicals enter the body, chemical labeling, Safety Data Sheets, PPE, and emergency response.

Ladder Safety

This 20 minute presentation will identify common causes of ladder accidents; how to select, inspect, and set up ladders correctly; and how to climb, work on, maintain, store, and transport ladders safely.

Lockout/Tagout training discusses OSHA’s Lockout/Tagout Standard (29 CFR 1910.147), hazardous energy sources, energy-isolating devices, additional safety requirements such as group lockout/Tagout, and refitting equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment

The 30 minute online Personal Protective Equipment for Non-Laboratory Personnel training will review hazard assessments, when personal protective equipment is necessary, and how to select, properly wear, and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment.

Respiratory Protection

Respiratory protection-half mask/full face piece training discusses OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard (29 CFR 1910.134), types of respirators, maintenance of respirators, and fit testing procedures. This 2-hour training class is mandatory for all employees whose job classifications may involve duties which result in breathing air contaminated with harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, or vapors which otherwise cannot be controlled through the use of administrative or engineering controls or employees who voluntarily use respirators.

Slips, Trips, & Falls

This course covers various OSHA regulations and other standards. The module also explores the different types of slips, trips, and falls. Finally, participants will be introduced to the components of effective trip, slip, and fall prevention: recognize, evaluate, and control.

Supervisor Safety Responsibilities

Know the University Safety & Health Procedures that apply to your work area. Make sure proper equipment is available for tasks. Ensure that employees have reviewed JHA. Enforce safety rules. Know the safety risks of processes within your area of responsibility. The Safety and Health Program is the responsibility of each employee, supervisor, and administrator.
