Graduate Travel Awards Information
The conference student travel awards are for undergraduate and graduate students to present their research and creative activity in conferences. Funds for student travel are provided by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research.
Undergraduate students must find a faculty mentor. For graduate students, a faculty mentor is typically a thesis/project advisor. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
At the time of application, students must submit the following documents for consideration:
- Proof of Conference Acceptance or Submission (If the proof is not available at the time of application, then submit proof of conference submission. For those awardees who were not able to provide proof of conference acceptance at the time of submission, this must be provided before the award is made.)
- Abstract
- Letter of support from an advisor/faculty mentor (Submit the three documents as attachments to a single email. Send it to Deletta J. Browning, Finance Director for the Office of Vice Provost for Research (djbrowning@ualr.edu).
Notification of Award
The applicant, faculty mentor, department chair and college associate dean will be notified of the award. For those awardees who were not able to provide proof of conference acceptance at the time of submission, this must be provided before the award is made.
Disbursement of Funds
Travel funds will be transferred to the college dean’s office. The college staff will assist the student with travel arrangements and documents/processes that must be submitted both before and after the travel.
What to Do After Being Notified of Award
If the student receives an award, the faculty mentor and the department are expected to assist the student in having an approved spend authorization and an approved expense report submitted in Workday (after travel is completed). Participation in UA Little Rock Research and Creative Works Expo Awardees are required to participate in the UA Little Rock Research and Creative Works Expo.
