This Will Be Our Reply…

March 10, 2020 at 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

The powerful concert will include a work commissioned for the Sandy Hook Tragedy and a Memoriam to the 1945 Dresden Bombings (75th anniversary).

The title “This shall be our reply…” is taken from the famous quote by composer Leonard Bernstein. Bernstein was asked, “as musicians, how do we respond to evil and violence?” (This was following the Kennedy assassination). He responded, “This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.”

The concert will be emotionally heavy but we believe it is a good change from most concerts.

The pieces and composers are below:

Symphony No. 1 In Memoriam – Dresden 1945 by Daniel Bukvich
Into the Silent Land by Steve Danyew
On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss – David R. Holsinger
Requiem by Quincy C. Hilliard
