Program Overview

The Master of Education in Reading is an accelerated 30 hour online degree program that helps novice and veteran teachers broaden their knowledge about the field of literacy with opportunities to receive an endorsement in reading or dyslexia (K-12).

In today’s climate, all teachers need a strong understanding about how children learn to read, how to support children who find learning to read difficult, and a solid background on evidence-based strategies to support all readers. Accredited and nationally recognized by the International Literacy Association, an M.Ed. in reading from UA Little Rock will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to meet the literacy needs of all students.

There are two degree plans that lead to the M.Ed. in reading at UA Little Rock:

  • M.Ed. – Leading to Reading Specialist Licensure
    • Students will complete 24 hours of Core 1A plus 6 hours of electives
  • M.Ed. – Reading Generalist
    • Students will complete 12 hours of Core 1B plus 18 hours of electives
