Department of Rhetoric and Writing
Rhetoric is the language we use in everyday life to persuade others. The term describes communication for multiple purposes. Rhetoric can be found in advertisements, web pages, social media, politics, workplace writing, and personal relationships.
The UA Little Rock Department of Rhetoric and Writing offers first-year composition to help improve writing skills. We also maintain the University Writing Center where all students are welcome to work on specific writing needs. The department’s degree programs prepare students for careers that require strong writing, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Our department offers a B.A. and an M.A.:
- Bachelor of Arts in Professional and Technical Writing
- Master of Arts in Professional and Technical Writing (three concentrations: Editing and Publishing, Nonfiction Writing, and Technical Writing)
