Blackboard Ultra Base Navigation: a new way to navigate your online courses

You’ve probably already noticed a big change in the way things look when you log in to Blackboard — that’s because UA Little Rock has made the transition to Blackboard’s Ultra Base Navigation user interface, which streamlines access to your online courses with an easy-to-navigate, responsive design.

What exactly is introduced by the update?

The update to BaseNav introduces a new user interface, which organizes system navigation in a sidebar on the left-hand side of the screen using the following categories:

Institution page: find important news as well as helpful information and resources

Profile: manage your online personal and modify your notification settings

Activity stream: see what’s new and coming up for all your courses and organizations

Courses: quickly navigate to your courses with the ability to search, filter and favorite them

Organizations: access the organizations that you are a member or lead

Calendar: view all course, organization, institution, and personal events

Messages: stay connected by viewing and sending all messages from one place

Grades: check your grades for all of your courses with just one click

Tools: access tools that live outside your courses, like your institutional portfolios and the Kaltura My Media page

Will the update impact the way I interact with content inside of my courses?

The update is primarily a change to the way you navigate the Blackboard system outside of your courses, so apart from utilizing the new functionality introduced in the navigation sidebar, your courses will continue to function in a way similar to prior terms.

Is there anything I need to do prior to the start of the term?
