General Description
The two math pathways are College Algebra for STEM majors, and Quantitative and Mathematical Reasoning for non-STEM majors. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements to enroll in the gateway math course, then you must take developmental mathematics. At UA Little Rock, we offer Corequisite Courses which allow you to take the gateway math along with the remediation course (a one-hour support lab) during the same semester. For the College Algebra pathway, if you need to review a full semester before entering the corequisite courses, we now offer a Foundations Course to better prepare you. See below for more information.
College Algebra Track
IF ACT Math 21+ OR SAT Math 500+ OR COMPASS 45+, then eligible to take: MATH 1302 College Algebra
IF ACT Math 18-20 OR SAT Math 450-499 OR COMPASS 43-44, then eligible to take: MATH 1302 College Algebra AND MATH 0102 College Algebra Lab
You must enroll in both for the same semester. You have the same instructor and same grade. You are getting credit for your gateway math and math remediation all within one semester.
IF your ACT/SAT/COMPASS/etc is less than what is needed to take the corequisite College Algebra course, then first you must take a full semester of remediation to brush up on prerequisite skills as follows:
MATH 0332 Foundations of College Algebra
*Upon A, B, or C grade in MATH 0332 Foundation of College Algebra, then you are eligible to take the corequisite College Algebra.
Quantitative and Mathematical Reasoning Track
IF ACT Math 19+ OR SAT Math 480+ OR COMPASS 44+, then eligible to take: MATH 1321 Quant and Math Reasoning
IF ACT Math 18 or less OR SAT Math 479 or less OR COMPASS 43 or less, then eligible to take: MATH 1321 Quant and Math Reasoning AND MATH 0121 Quant and Math Reasoning Lab
You must enroll in both for the same semester. You have the same instructor and same grade. You are getting credit for your gateway math and math remediation all within one semester.
