School of Art and Design Scholarships

A wide variety of scholarships and awards are available to UA Little Rock School of Art and Design students. Awards typically range from $500 to $7,500. Scholarships are used for tuition and fees, books, and art materials for the academic year of the award, excluding summer. We are awarding scholarships in all emphasis areas for all current degree-seeking students, including entering freshmen.

NOTE: When you submit your application you will be considered for all appropriate departmental scholarships.

Application Requirements

Entering Freshmen, Transfer Students, and Current Students Must Provide:

  • Examples of personal artwork in PDF (portfolio submission), including a list of the images
  • Complete any additional requirements as specified below

Requirements for Art Education, Art History, Studio Art and Applied Design

Please provide all materials as directed to ensure a successful application process.


Art History Applicant

  • Two typed research papers, 10-15 pages of text each. The first paper must be on an art history topic. The second should be on an art history topic (preferred) or another humanities topic. Include supplemental materials, such as, illustrations and bibliography. These pages are not included in the text.

Studio Art or Applied Design Applicant

  • Include 8-10 works provided as a PDF uploaded via the online scholarship application. Each work may show more than one view or additional detail images. However, the number of images submitted cannot exceed 20.
  • Include your typed image list in the PDF. The image list must be in the order of presented materials and must include the following information: artist name, title of work, medium used, size, and date of completion.

Art Education Applicant

  • Two typed research papers, 10-15 pages of text each (5-10 pages if applying as an incoming freshman). The first paper must be on an art history topic. The second should be on an art history topic (preferred) or another humanities topic. Include supplemental materials, such as, illustrations and bibliography. These pages are not included in the text. Submit all as a PDF via the online scholarship application.

OR

  • Include 8-10 works provided as a PDF uploaded via the online scholarship application. Each work may show more than one view or additional detail images. However, the number of images submitted cannot exceed 20.
  • Include your typed image list in the PDF. The image list must be in the order of presented materials and must include the following information: artist name, title of work, medium used, size, and date of completion.
