Chancellor Joel E. Anderson and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host a ceremony celebrating the renaming of the Student Services Center. The building, which was dedicated in September 2012, will be named after Dr. Charles W. Donaldson, Emeritus Vice Chancellor for Educational Student Services and Student Life.
“There is no more appropriate building on campus to name after Dr. Charles W. Donaldson than the Student Services Center,” said Dr. Anderson. “Dr. Donaldson’s commitment to the well-being and success of our students was exceptional. It is most fitting that we pay tribute to his legacy of leadership and service in this way. UALR is a better place because of him.”
Donaldson joined UALR in 1973 as Counselor for the Student Special Services Program. He later served in various capacities, including Director of Career Planning and Placement and Adjunct Assistant Professor (1977); Assistant Professor (1983); Acting Associate Vice Chancellor for Educational Services (1983); Associate Vice Chancellor for Educational Services/Dean of University College (1984); Vice Chancellor for Educational Student Services and Student Life (1992); and Associate Professor of Higher Education (1999).
Dr. Donaldson earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Philander Smith College, a Master of Education degree from State College of Arkansas, and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville.
Both the UALR Board of Visitors and the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees unanimously voted to support naming the facility after Donaldson.
