Arijit Sarkar, 2008 Graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Master of Science in Information Quality (MSIQ) Program, has been named as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). Arijit was a member of the first cohort of 24 students to enroll in the MSIQ in fall 2006 after the program was approved by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education in April 2006. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Pune University in India and worked for Everest Industries Ltd., in Calcutta, India, prior to joining the MSIQ program.
Arijit was the first international student to join the MSIQ program, and worked as a graduate assistant during this tenure at UALR. He was hired by ADE upon his graduation in 2008 as an information systems business analyst. Later he served as information systems coordinator and director of information systems before being named as CIO.
