Spring 2023 – Pilot Course

College Algebra with College Algebra Labs

The UA Little Rock Department of Mathematic and Statistics is piloting a configuration of our College Algebra course in the spring 2023 semester so that students can bypass taking the Foundations of Algebra remedial course if they meet certain criteria. Students would take MATH 1302 – College Algebra and 2 hours of MATH 0102 – College Algebra Lab course in the same semester. This configuration would end up being 5-hours and it will allow students the opportunity to get their remedial course and gateway course completed in one semester.

Students will register for the following courses:
MATH 0102 – H01 10 – 10:50 T (Lab)
MATH 0102 – H01 10 – 10:50 R (Lab)
MATH 1302 – H01 10:50 – 12:05 TR (College Algebra)

The student must meet the following criteria to be eligible to participate in the pilot course:

Any interested student meeting the Math Index score listed above is eligible to take the Departmental Placement test. If they pass the placement test, they will be enrolled in this 5-hour pilot course. A member of the Math Department will personally enroll the student in the proper courses. The placement test will be offered in the Math Department located in ETAS 405. Students will need to make an appointment with Ariel Humphrey to take this test. This test must be completed by January 13, 2023, so the student can be placed in the courses prior to the start of the Spring 2023 semester.

If a student wishes to review for this placement test, a Review for the Department Placement Test and Review Videos are available.
