Highlights of the year

There were many opportunities for growth and development in the Student Services Success Initiatives (SSSI) this year. Many of the SSSI students, faculty, and staff participated and engaged in multiple professional development events.

Jonathan Bobo and Laura Montalvan lead the Leadership Institute at UALR, which equips students for leadership in the workplace, the city, and the community.

Amber Smith was awarded the New Professional award at the Arkansas College Personnel Association’s statewide conference, which took place in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Amber Smith and Sherry Robertson presented a poster on the Dr. Charles W. Donaldson Scholars Academy (CWDSA) in Louisville, KY at the Consortium for Student Retention and Data Exchange (CSRDE).

Last but not least, many SSSI student coordinators received scholarships, internships, and admission to graduate schools. The SSSI staff is very proud of these students as they represent the type of success we hope to see.

  • Taylor Sills, AAFI Student Coordinator, was admitted to the graduate program in Applied Psychology at UALR.
  • Calton Davis, AAMI Student Coordinator, got the opportunity to intern with Tyson Foods in North West Arkansas this summer.  In addition , he is also the recipient of the College of Business William McLean Scholarship.
  • Calton Davis and Kalan Horton are both McNair Scholars as well.
  • Laura Montalvan, CWDSA Media and Branding Coordinator, spearheaded the creation and establishment of a new Greek Club on campus.
