Opening Monday, December 11:

Laura Raborn: Words Create Reality

Curated from two on-going bodies of work: About Face and Words Matter.

About Face…”Humans are hard-wired to analyze faces to seek connection and understanding – to anticipate mood or intention. This natural common behavior is one reason I, like many others, are drawn to art that presents the human face. It is an endless subject for exploration and a vehicle or partner for concepts I find important.”

Words Matter…” The act of creating exposes my own visceral responses to contemporary issues while prompting me to question my responses and shift the way I see things. Making the work forces me to recognize my own biases and assumptions, to learn more about what I don’t understand and to pay close attention to the sources of information I believe. A willingness to recognize the inevitable fallacy in each of our narrow perspectives is a great gift. In my case, this gift arrives through art making.”

Monday, December 11, 2023 – Friday, January 12, 2024
