Arkansas Center for Data Sciences (ACDS) is looking for students, recent graduates, new hires and current employees wanting to advance their career in cyber and information security. ACDS in partnership with the training partner, Forge Institute, is working with employers across the state of Arkansas to hire individuals for this cohort. This is a paid apprenticeship program tied to a full-time position with one of our company partners. Must be able to work M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m, starting September 2020.

Job Responsibilities (We will train you to perform the duties listed below):

  • Leverage provided resources to research reported events, threats, vulnerabilities, and intelligence to triage critical events and assist in remediation on low level events.
  • Identify attacks and threats, determine root cause, scope, and severity of each, and compile/report findings
  • Assist in maturing incident response playbooks with Security Operations
  • Assist in the generation of reporting & creation of cyber security metrics
  • Identify network computer intrusion evidence and perpetrators.
  • Additional topics:
    1) Firewall configuration and traffic analysis
    2) System security design
    3) Access control and management
    4) Security training and awareness programs
    5) Security policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Must be based in Arkansas
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Skills & Abilities (Nice to have not required):

  • Familiarity with cyber security topics and functions such as TCP, DNS, LDAP, cyber security frameworks, SSO, Encryption, etc.
  • Textbook knowledge in network analysis, PCI compliance, host analysis, and IDS/IPS technology
  • Experience with email/domain security preferred
  • Unix/Linux general knowledge
  • User and admin familiarity– Redhat, Fedora, CentOS, SuSE, etc.
  • Python, PERL, bash, or other scripting experience.
  • Knowledge of security disciplines: identification, authentication, authorization, access control, administration, and audit.
  • Knowledge of general attack stages (e.g., foot-printing and scanning, enumeration, gaining access, escalation of privileges, maintaining access, network exploitation, covering tracks).
  • Basic understanding of information security concepts and terms including attack vectors, malware, APTs, backdoors, phishing, social engineering, etc.

How does the interview process work? ACDS will conduct an initial phone interview and assessment. ACDS will send selected resumes to companies that match the candidate’s skills and interests. Our corporate partner companies will decide which resumes to bring in for an onsite interview with the IT manager. Company selects the final candidate for the job offer.

The Department of Computer and Information Science at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas is searching for a recent graduate with a degree in computer science or a related degree for a visiting instructor (Master’s Degree) or visiting assistant professor (PhD Degree) for our upcoming Fall and Spring semesters. Responsibilities Perform systems administration activities to support the software developed within the Command and Control Mission Systems (C2MS) rapid engineering section. This includes operation, maintenance, and installation of software that provides situational awareness, datalink, operator interface, radio controller, and more. The qualified candidate will provide software maintenance in the form of inspections and tests of all network and user software for prototyping, development test (DT), operational test (OT), and fielding. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintains installed aircraft systems with the most current configuration; to include system/software upgrade and revision installations, replacements, and network assurance upgrades
  • Responsible for duplicating and imaging media with the required software
  • Creates, maintains and tests component software loads, as required
  • Maintains computers with current National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) map data and Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED)
  • Defines and provides user training initial training and documentation for C2MS delivered capabilities, locally and/or deployed
  • Manages the Developmental Test (DT) and Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) C2MS delivered capabilities prior to release
  • Implements unique software applications (i. e. SAMS-ESA, Improved Many On Many (IMOM), Display of Correlated Threats (DisCorT), Tactical Radio Application Extension (TRAX), Tactical Receive Suite (TRS) Dashboard, 1553 Bus Services, etc.) as required
  • Manages the research and testing of new equipment; assists Special Operations Forces (SOF) component representatives with recommendations, information, and /or analysis as required
  • Prepares and delivers technical briefings for leadership on C2MS systems, software, and data, as required
  • Conducts research and testing of new software/equipment and provides SOF and C2MS leadership and other component representatives with recommendations, information, and /or analysis as required
  • Performs system and network administrator duties on aircraft systems configured in server controlled or client configurations.
  • Assists C2MS site lead and component representative with advice and /or analysis as required.

Qualifications 

  • Current DoD Active SECRET clearance and be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance 
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related disciplines; or Technical School Certificate related to computer systems; or the equivalent military training and experience
  • Minimum of five years experience providing operational IT services in support of DoD
  • Familiarity with DoD testing standards, as well as experience developing Standard Operating Procedures, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures, is a must
  • Excellent communication skills; shows tact, effective listening skills, follow-through, is detail-oriented and organized.
  • Minimum of five years experience using Microsoft Operating Systems, to include Microsoft XP, Windows 7 and 10
  • Must be able to analyze/troubleshoot hardware and software malfunctions, accomplish file download, manipulation, installation, operation, administer security procedures and principles and perform trusted data extraction functions
  • Possess knowledge of and experience applying computer security policy, procedures, and protective measures
