C Programming Facilitator – ACDS

The Arkansas Center for Data Sciences has partnered with an employer in Arkansas to offer a 6-week course on C Programming, Unix (Linux), and SQL with PostgreSQL. The ACDS is seeking a C programmer to facilitate the course, which will fun full-time for 6 weeks beginning October 3. The course consists of roughly a week of Unix, a week of SQL, and 4 weeks of C programming.
The students will be apprentices/full-time employees, with professional experience, but their experience with coding will be varied, from recent bootcamp graduates to those who haven’t coded in some time. Job Summary:

The Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting geographic information utilizing geodetic surveys, aerial photographs, and satellite data. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Identifies, scales, and orients geodetic points, elevations, and other topographic features, applying standard mathematical formulas. Collects information about specific features of the Earth using aerial photography and other digital remote sensing techniques. Compiles data and utilizes databases required for map preparation, including aerial photographs, survey notes, records, reports, and original maps. Determines map content and layout, as well as production specifications, such as scale, size, projection, colors, and direct production to ensure that specifications are followed. Examines and analyzes data from ground surveys, reports, aerial photographs, and satellite images to prepare topographic maps, aerial-photograph mosaics, and related charts. Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Assisting with development and maintenance of spatial datasets. Collaborating with teams to advance integrating GIS technology into workflows throughout the agency and identify new methods for using GIS to improve business processes and productivity using ArcGIS Online Applications and desktop GIS platforms like QGIS, ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro. Researching and developing location based analyses, models and solutions to address business problems and answer questions.

(cont.) Assisting with the maintenance of AGFC’s spatial enterprise hardware and software systems components. This can involve the maintenance of hardware and software such as ArcGIS Server, as well as deploying and maintaining the agency’s spatial enterprise geodatabase (SQL Server and PostgreSQL) both on virtual machines as well as cloud services such as Amazon AWS.
