Windows 11 upgrade to desktop computers

IT Services is partnering with UA Little Rock departmental offices to upgrade all desktop computers on campus to the latest version of the Microsoft Windows 11 operating system. The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed by early July. This upgrade to campus desktop computers will ensure that all of our applications, software, and processes are compatible with Windows 11.

Windows 11 contains several significant improvements to the operating system that include the visual look and feel of displays as well as enhanced security. Listed below are several benefits this upgrade will bring to the campus:

  • Improved performance and stability 
    Windows 11 is faster and more stable than older versions of Windows Operating systems.
  • New features and functionality 
    Windows 11 has several new features and enhancements, including an updated Start menu, a revamped taskbar, and support for virtual desktops.
  • Enhanced security
    Windows 11 includes several new security features that makes it even more resistant to viruses and malware which in turn contributes to the overall security of the university’s environment.
  • Better compatibility with hardware and software
    Windows 11 is better optimized for hardware and software, meaning the university will experience fewer compatibility issues.
