Undergraduate Degrees

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics offers four baccalaureate degree programs:

  • B.S. or B.A.
  • B.S. or B.A. with Secondary Education Option

The B.S. and B.A. degrees have the same core requirements and the same number of hours, but there is more flexibility in completing the upper level requirements of the B.A. degree.  The degrees with Secondary Education Option require that the minor be Secondary Education.  These degrees also require advanced mathematics courses that are required for licensure.  Please consult the current UALR Undergraduate Catalog for details on each degree.

The B.S or B.A degree will prepare students for careers in industry, public service, and education, and for M.S. and Ph.D. programs.  It is recommended that students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree take the B.S. degree (or the B.A. degree with elective courses that will prepare them for the Ph.D. level studies).  Students interested in a Ph.D. program should also consider taking an upper level second language.
