Dr Cruz Elected to the National Academy of Engineering

Dr. Carolina Cruz-Neira, Interim Chair of the Department, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. This is her election citation.

This description of the Academy is quoted from their website:

Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer.  Academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to “engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature” and to “the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education.”

To add perspective on the significance of this honor, there are but 6 living members of the Academy of Engineering from Arkansas. The Department warmly congratulates Dr. Cruz and is proud to have a Chair with this high honor.
