Online Campus Mission and History

The mission of the UA Little Rock Online Campus is to support and advocate for students, faculty, and staff involved in the fully online programs. Specifically, our team collaboratively develops and implements strategies for recruiting, onboarding, and retaining these specific populations.

UA Little Rock Online Enrollment and Demographics

In June 2015, UA Little Rock Online launched with 10 degree and certificate programs and 150 students in its first fall term. As of Spring 2021, our fully online programs have grown to 69 approved degrees, certificates, and minors, and our student population is over 1,800 strong. Online Campus students are distributed throughout four continents, 43 different states and countries, and seven different time zones.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is committed to ensuring faculty excellence and student success in our online courses. As part of that commitment, we have established research-based course design standards. Informed by nationally recognized Quality Matters and SUNY review standards, the UA Little Rock Online Course Design Quality Assurance Standards provide course design guidance to faculty and is the official methodology for certifying the quality of online courses taught at the University. This program aims to contribute to faculty excellence, facilitate student success, and provide a continuous improvement process for high-quality online courses. In the summer of 1998, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock offered the first online course in what many formerly referred to as “distance education.”

UA Little Rock is considered a leader in Arkansas and beyond with respect to online education. Talented faculty provide online programming with real-world experience in their disciplines, as well as excellent teaching and research backgrounds.


The mission of eLearning is to ensure the academic excellence of online education at UA Little Rock in a manner that maximizes an environment of user-friendly education and universal inclusion, thus providing online students with an engaging learning experience. eLearning provides optimal functionality in support of units, faculty, contracts, and assessment to ensure logistics are properly carried out. Our mission requires intensive focus on maintaining current online programming and promoting the development of future online programs.

Core Values and Functions

Academic Excellence
We make sure UA Little Rock faculty have access the digital tools and methods they need to deliver their online coursework effectively and the support to employ high-quality methods of instruction.

Optimal Functionality
Our staff administer payments as well as assess processes and contracts for internal and external accounts and services required for online education at UA Little Rock. In collaboration with our campus partners, we also conduct forecast analysis and identify opportunities to support academic and professional development.

Accessibility and Innovation
We also serve as the administrative unit for the university’s brand of fully online degree and certificate programs, UA Little Rock Online, and partner to Scholarly Technology and Resources (STaR) to help facilitate training, support and innovation in online instruction.

Universal Inclusion
We strive to create a community of online learners that benefit from the resources UA Little Rock offers. We encourage our faculty and staff to collaborate in our efforts to provide perpetual student engagement and equal opportunities for academic success for all UA Little Rock students.
