Professor Flannery interviewed on divorce settlements

Professor Michael Flannery was interviewed regarding a property settlement and photo archives in an Arkansas divorce case. “Generally parties that are married will accumulate marital property and the court will put some value on that. Then they will distribute that. So, oftentimes, to come to some agreement about what is equitable in dividing marital property, you can offset the actual property with other property in lieu of spousal support. The distribution doesn’t have to be equal.” (David Smith, Divorce divides photo archives. Ark. Dem. Gaz., Oct. 31, 2014, at 1D and 6D.)
